> Small Flap Technique Case

After seeing the first case, some have asked: "Is there any way to make the lips smaller?"
The answer is yes as there are several different techniques that can be offered here. Below we have
the result of a modified excisional technique. The "Pros" and "Cons" and some images
are presented below.

Alternate Techniques?

Women come to consultation with variable anatomy and desires. Some women want a result that other women would find "too small." The applicability of a particular technique also depends upon the shape of a woman's genitalia beforehand. No one technique suffices for all patients. I currently use three different techniques dependent upon the geometry of the Labia minora. The technique used in this case is an improvement over the much simpler "cut off the excess" method.

What's the Difference?

Excisional techniques are in general simpler than the flap technique used in the last case. There is a longer period of recuperation as soreness is greater when the lips are reduced by simple excision. This modified excision improves a bit upon that simpler technique. The negative of the excisional techniques in general is that the vaginal opening may be made more apparent. Then again the lips can be made smaller via excision than with flap reductions.

I have for the most part replaced the older simple excisions with this modified technique. This leaves much more natural-looking lips with less discomfort than those seen with simple excisions.

The groin area swells quite a bit after surgery but this improves over the first few weeks. Most of the sutures dissolve. Sometimes a few must be removed later. Patients abstain from intercourse for 3-6 weeks.

For The Potential Patient

I have seen a fair number of consultations from this page. I am again offering first time consultations at no charge. Patients that don't show for scheduled consultations (without fair notice) will not be offered another. I am very rarely able to perform surgery on the day of consultation. Currently, these operations are performed in a surgical center to avail the patient of the comfort of anesthesia. Swelling is also reduced as less local is used in the surgicenter cases. On the day of surgery, the patient will need someone to drive her home.

I no longer offer procedure under straight local in the office. In these office-based procedures, the patient is completely awake.

Labiaplasty Example - Modified Excisional Technique
This young lady presented with lips that were a source of embarrassment. She wanted them pretty small and more flush against the vaginal opening. A modified excision was performed. The procedure was performed in the surgicenter under a short general anesthetic.

Special Thanks to this young lady for allowing me to share her story and results with you. Patient images are only shared with patient consent. I have other examples to share at consultation as requested.
